Back To The Grind

Yesterday was the first day of school, here in eastern Ontario.  Youngest started her final year of high school.  How did it happen, it's only seventeen short years since we brought her home from the hospital.

Last, first day of school for our offspring.

And then there was a bit of a surprise.  Usually as a supply teacher, there is not much activity until second or third week of school.  However Monday I got a frantic call from a vice principal, could I cover a Grade 7 class for the first week - by all means!  Then yesterday morning, it was another frantic call, this time from a principal, could the Missus teach, French/music the first day of school - again, by all means.

So it was first day of school for all of us.  Here we are all decked out and ready to go.

 

My first day was a pretty good one - the first week is always the honeymoon phase though.  I was supposed to have 31 students, but only had 27 show.  It was largely a day of setting rules, establishing routines and handing out forms.  The teacher I am replacing had left well organized day plans too, which is a major bonus as a supply.  Should be a good week.
