It's Blossom Time

Okay time again for an update of who's blooming away in the beds today.  Please ignore the lawn - it is about three days past where it should have been attended to.  There are only so many hours in the day.

Purple Coneflower Echinacea

Monkshood - this is getting crowded out, not its usually display.

Some of my healthier phlox

Strawberry Fields Daylily

What a cheery face!
Purple Millet - not beautiful, but eye catching nonetheless.

Blue phlox, and yes in early morning light this is true to colour

Blazing star liatris - more like a little smolder this year.

Dahlia - okay dahlia experts, why all plant no bloom this year?

Spider plant cleome - one of my favourite annuals
Blue dianthus - an experiment last year (biennual)

Daylilies in front of my red leafed birch and golden glow.

Magenta Phlox
Golden Glow/Outhouse Flowers - the only decent stalk left - wiped out by powdery mildew.

Hydrangea - a good topdressing of bonemeal in March

One of the many hostas in flower.  Can't decide whether hosta flowers are really a focal point or not?

And that is about all I have to say for today.

Musings and meanderings from the Musical Gardener.

  1. One cleome today, thousands next year. They do reseed themselves very well. Although I do like them, they take over and it took me years to get rid of them. If I had a field, I would plant those and Cosmos all over.

  2. Actually here in Canada, we get very few that ever reseed. I wish a few more would. I find them extremely difficult to start from seed in the house. I've done the freezing and thawing bit, but never had any success.

  3. Beautiful flowers. Your garden must attract a lot of butterflies.
